Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, reminds us: "The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to help and strengthen each other as we strive to return to our Heavenly Father...We will each progress at different rates...
"...When you magnify your calling, you don't merely go through the motions; you challenge yourself to serve in the place you are called with all your heart, might, mind, and strength."

"I Really Lived"
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coifed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a stationwagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

Cannery
Brothers & Sisters,
We would like to thank everyone for the
tremendous response in purchasing the Quart and Pint bottles. We have
sold everything we had. Thanks for your interest and support. May the
Lord bless each of you as we transition into a new era
without the cannery in our community. We do however still have the
Home Storage Center that will be a wonderful blessing to take advantage
of. I have attached a current price sheet for the Home Storage Center
for your reference.
Sincerely,
Charlie Olsen
BSS Field Manager

News from the Cannery
Brothers & Sisters:
As all of you are aware the Wet-pack Cannery is
now officially closed. We have obtained permission to sell off a couple
of inventory items, rather than pay shipping to send them somewhere.
We have the following Pint and Quart Bottles
for sale:
Quart Bottles with Lids & Rings: 263 Cases (12 Bottles/Case) $0.55/Bottle = $6.60 + Sales Tax/Case
Pint Bottles in Box (NO lids or rings) 991 Cases (12 Bottles/Case) $0.30/Bottle = $3.60 + Sales Tax/Case
These bottles are the bottles we use for Salsa
and Spaghetti Sauce, and will only be available through the end of
June. What is not sold by month end will be shipped to some other
cannery. We would like to sell them to save on freight
costs involved in shipping them elsewhere.

President's Message
I love this quote by Lucy Mack Smith, "We must cherish one another, watch over one another, comfort one another and gain instruction, that we may all sit down in heaven together."
Cherish means to protect and care for someone. Watch means to look at or observe attentively. Comfort means freedom from pain or constraint. Thinking of these action words, my mind is flooded with scenarios of visiting teaching opportunities. When I was young, just getting active in the church, I wondered why my Mom never had visiting teachers. If she did I never saw them. She never spoke of them. We never had home teachers who came each month and showed concern for our family. It could have been that they were told not to come. When I read stories of those who press forward in these kinds of circumstances, I wonder, what if my Mom would have had a visiting teacher like that? Would my family have been active, and my prayers been realized a lot sooner?
There are sisters in this ward, who need to know that someone cares for them, is willing to comfort, watch over, and cherish them whether they choose the gospel or not.
We have all been given a visiting teacher. someone who should be concerned about you! Someone who should be praying for you. Someone who should be setting a good example for you, and someone who should be frequently checking on and visiting you. I pray that you know that you are loved, cherished, watched over, and that there is someone who will comfort you in times of heart ache, trials, or just when you are having a hard day and need to talk. I hope that you love the sisters that come to you. If you have been assigned a sister like my Mom, (less active) please press forward, because maybe her child or someone else is praying that her family could be active and sealed together in the temple.
I love each of you, and sincerely cherish you. With this calling Heavenly Father has flooded me with love for you. It is a strange, amazing, overwhelming feeling, and I truly want you to feel loved, not by me, because that doesn't really matter, but by the Supreme Creator of the Universe, God, your Father.

Weekday Meeting
June 21st at 7:00 p.m. will be our weekday meeting. "Hand" Made Home cooking is the theme. Don't miss out! We will be putting our hands to good use. We are planning some super yummy food demos! A nursery will be provided.
Lesson Recap
Sister Jane Smith put together a marvelous lesson on visiting teaching. The spirit was felt by all who attended. We learned that we are God's hands here on this earth, and to quote Julie B. Beck, "A sister in this Church has no other responsibility outside of her family that has the potential to do as much good as Visiting Teaching...".
Our Relief Society Presidency urges us to make careful preparations for our visits, seeking the inspiration of our Father in Heaven. Please strive to reach individuals and touch their lives in such a manner as to draw them closer to the gospel and increase the feeling of sisterhood. May we have a desire to magnify our calling as a Visiting Teacher.
