Humanitarian
The high demand items for this week continue to be: diapers,
deodorant, laundry soap, Onesies size 3-6 months, baby wipes, and
Christmas wrapping paper.
The items that are suggested for the stockings are: hats, gloves, socks, pillowcases, books, toys, hand lotion, puppets, and Hotwheels. They request no Barbie dolls, no guns, and no toys that relate to violence. They already have the needed amt of crayons and color books. As I said, these are suggestions and they are not too picky about what they get as long as they follow the guidelines. The age groups and number of the children for the stocking project are: under 3 10 children, 4-6 yrs 20 children, 7-8 yrs 23 children, 9-12 yrs 24 children, 13-14 yrs 15 teens, and for the 15-18 yrs there are 8 teens.
Thank you!

Good Information
At Auxiliary Training last week President Searle expressed his concern for our families. He quoted two articles from past Ensigns which are good guidelines for our homes. Below are the two articles for you to read. I believe that they are good guidelines for our families.

Humanitarian
I am so excited about being called to Humanitarian Service. I hope that
I can help you all feel the excitement for this project too.
Kim and I had the opportunity to visit the building in Idaho Falls which now housing our local Humanitarian Service program. Salt Lake heard about the stake that was running this and came up to see what was going on. They were so impressed, that they have now declared it an official "pilot program" for the church. There are over 200 local nonprofit organizations in our area, 68 of which are currently using the services that we provide. There is a missionary couple that goes around and checks with the organizations to see what the needs are and then relays that back to our pilot program. Like I said, I am really excited about this and I hope that you will feel that emanating from me and maybe even catch a little of it! ;)
Every week when I go in to serve, there is a list of needs posted. These include: Baby Items, Bed and Bath, Cleaning Supplies, Clothing, Personal Items, Kitchen Supplies, and Animal Shelter Supplies. The items range from high quality quilts to wooden toys, file folder games to hygiene kits, and bereavement kits to so much more. There are also Seasonal Needs provided. Right now, that includes "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Christmas Stockings."
Every Sunday I will have a container outside of the chapel for people to put donated items in. I will then bring this in on Wednesdays when I report for service. I will be posting needs in our blog as well as posting needs in the bulletin and the newsletter.

Presidency Message
Elder Jeffery R. Holland, of the Quorum of the twelve has said: "The test of this life is not whether we succeed or fail, but whether we are righteous or unrighteous."
As we study the word "righteous" in the Topical Guide, we learn that the Savior is righteous and that through His righteousness, His example, and His atoning sacrifice we can become righteous, Christ-like and worthy heirs of all that the Father hath. "Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father (Matthew 13:43). Elder Neal A. Maxwell has said: "Whatever we embrace instead of Jesus and His work will keep us from qualifying to enter His kingdom and therefore being embraced by Him."
We pray that you will embrace the Relief Society program, all of you, in whatever auxiliary you currently serve in. Sister Julie B. Beck has said: "Through Relief Society we practice being disciples of Christ. We learn what He would have us learn, we do what He would have us do, and we become what He would have us become" (Quoted in Daughter in My Kingdom, page 7).
May the Lord bless all of us as we strive to fulfill the purposes of Relief Society and to quote President Craig D. Cutler, our previous Stake President, "Have a righteous day." Sister Bolander

Visiting Teaching
"As visiting teachers we can strengthen those we visit in their efforts to keep their sacred covenants. By doing so, we help them prepare for the blessings of eternal life." Every sister in this church who has made covenants with the Lord has a divine mandate to help save souls, to lead the women of the world, to build the kingdom of God."

Provident Living
Elder Bruce R. McConkie noted in the October 1981 Conference of the Church: " We know what the future holds and of the wars and plagues and desolations that will soon sweep the earth as a devouring fire.
This is a day in which mad men in high places can, in an instant, suddenly, unleash such fearful weapons that millions can be slain between the rising and the setting of the sun."
This talk was given 31 years ago, the counsel of the Lord to prepare becomes even more meaningful. We need to buy 1 or 2 extra cans of food when we go shopping each time so we can prepare for what is ahead in our lives. Calmness and wisdom will accompany all our preparations as done under the influence of the spirit.
