Heartfelt Thankyou

One of the perks of updating this blog is that I can sometimes add my own stuff.  I mean what is the worst that can happen--I get fired?!  haha

I just wanted to say thankyou to Kim, LaDawn, Jane, and Kitty for the many hours they have served in all of our behalf's.  I just happen to be lucky enough to know each of these women personally and I have seen the time, sacrifice, love, tears, and devotion they have put into their callings.  They relied on the Lord and each other and put their all into serving the sisters.  Thank You!

I also would like to personally welcome our new presidency.  They will be so wonderful.  In case you were not there on Sunday...Rayanne Cook is our new President, Shirley Lundquist is our new 1st Counselor, Judy Hendrix is our new 2nd Counselor, and Lisa Dye, is our new secretary.  Thank you wonderful women for agreeing to serve.  May we be blessed as we all strive to serve our Heavenly Father to the best of our ability.

Happy Birthday!

Julie Hogue - July 6th

Thankyou

Sisters: I hope its ok to take some space on the blog and let you know how much I love each and everyone of you.  It has been 3 years of a wonderful, hard, joyful, tearful, and a prayerful experience.  I have prayed for your faith, and hope that you will all know in your heart no matter what experience your going through that your Eternal Father loves you so much. Thank you for your prayers, and support to our presidency.  My counselors have been the best. I have loved each minute with them.  Thank you LaDawn and Jane.  Thanks seems so small, but how could I as a president ever do things without these wonderful women.  I appreciate Kitty so much, she is the best! Her love for each of you is so strong, she served so wonderfully, and went the extra mile as did both LaDawn and Jane.  I thank my Father for filling my heart with a love for each of you.  I am so glad Rayanne is your new president.  She will be wonderful.  I hope you will all love and support her and her presidency as you did ours.  You are my Eternal Friends!!
Kim

Lesson Recap

Sister Couch, gave a wonderful lesson on the Conference talk of Elder Anderson's.  She even showed her artist talent.  Hopefully we can review that talk and take personally and internally those words.  We can through his steps truly weather any trial that "WILL"  come our way.

Welcome to the ward Justin & Kristin Barnard.

We will be sad to see some wonderful people moving from our ward.  The Hursts will move but remain in our stake.  The Hone's will also be moving but staying in the stake.  And the Anderson's are embarking on a much farther adventure than into another ward as they head off over sea's to Germany for 2 years.  Best wishes to all of you!

Lesson Recap

Sister Irene Campbell gave a wonderful lesson on

"The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood"
From the life of Joseph Fielding Smith

"The blessings of the Lord are offered to the Saints
and to the world through the ministrations of those
who hold His holy priesthood, and who represent Him."
The promise of exaltation is offered to every Melchizedek
Priesthood holder who is true to the oath and covenant
of the priesthood.
What a glorious thing it is to know that the Lord has offered
to each of us the fullness of the priesthood , and has promised
us that if we will receive the priesthood and magnify our
callings, we shall gain an everlasting inheritance with Him in
His Kingdom.

Stake Challenge

Our Stake President, Mark Searle, has issued several challenges to be completed in the next 100 days before the anniversary of the forming of our Stake.  He promised us that as we strive to accomplish these goals, our homes will be blessed and we will become closer to our families as well as our Heavenly Father.  They are as follows:

1.  Read the Book of Mormon in 100 days.  This comes out to about 2 1/2 chapters per day or 5-6 pages.  There are tracking sheets available at church to help you progress.

2.  100% Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching.

3.  100% Family and Individual Prayer.

4.  Index 100 Names.

5.  Attend the temple as frequently as possible in the next 100 days.

6.  Invite someone to listen to the missionaries within the next 100 days.

Let us all accept these challenges to the best of our abilities so that we may each be blessed.

Honoring the Priesthood Keys restored Through
                           Joseph Smith

From the Life of Joseph Fielding Smith, "May I say---
very plainly and very emphatically that we have the
holy priesthood and that the keys of the kingdom of

God are here. They are found only in "The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,"
The united voice of those who hold the keys of the
kingdom will always guide us where the Lord wants us

Lesson Recap

Sister Jane Smith gave an inspiring lesson on

A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD

In The PREMORTAL REALM, spirit sons and daughters
knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and
accepted His Eternal Plan by which His children could
obtain an eternal body and gain earthly experience to
progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his
or her destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine of
happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated
beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants
available in Holy Temples make it possible for individuals
to return to the presence of God and for families to be
united eternally.

Presidency Message

Traditions are wonderful, and they will truly serve to bring your family closer together and to strengthen relationships.  However, the activities and events that we call our traditions are only the means of travel, not the destination.  You don't get together for an annual summer picnic so that you can all have a delicious meal to enjoy (although that is one of the sweeter side benefits).  The real purpose is the interactions and strengthening of relationships.

Before you know it, your family will be grown.  Your children will be getting married and joining with their new spouse's family as well, who will most likely have their own set of family traditions.  Your married children may not always be able to come to every activity.  They might be able to join you only every other year.  That's all right.  They are teaching their own children new traditions and sharing in the traditions of both sides of the family.

It is important when possible to maintain those family traditions that have become such an important part of your lives, but it shouldn't become so important that those traditions strain the very relationships that they have served to strengthen.  Sometimes traditions need amending according to differing family needs.  Family traditions should grow and change, just as the family grows and changes.

There is much love, joy and laughter to be found in the time you spend together with your family as you create and carry out your own wonderful traditions.

Enjoy your wonderful summer!  Sister Jane Smith

6.  Invite someone to listen to the missionaries within the next 100 days.

Let us all accept these challenges to the best of our abilities so that we may each be blessed.

Preparedness Thought for June

We have been working on scout things revolving around safety for family home evening and I decided that would be a good thing for everyone to be prepared in as well.

Here is a list of things you and your family can work on together:

Make sure your home has at least one smoke detector and change the batteries, a carbon monoxide detector is a good idea too if you use natural gas at all.

Plan a family escape route from your home.  Draw a floor plan and show ways your family can escape.  Know where to meet outside.

Know what to do if you smell gas or propane in your home.

Know where your electrical fuse box is, or circuit breaker box is.

Know where the water shutoff valve is.

Check where you store your poisons, are they marked and put up.

Check your medications, are they locked and secure.

Talk about what you would do in the event of a tornado, flood, earthquake, etc.

Does everyone know where the flashlights are, do you have candles easily accessible in the event of an outage.

Sister Spotlight

Our spotlight is on Sister Nicole Couch.  She was born and raised in Idaho Falls, not far from the banks of the Snake River.  She has lived in Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.  Denver is one of her most favorite places on Earth.

Her adventures have taken her to Oahu, Hawaii, Disney World, Cozumel, Mexico and Grand Cayman Island.

She has two sweet boys, Gabriel and Nathan, who take up most of her time.  Before she became a Mom, she had careers in Education, Dental and Hotel industries.  She was able to meet a few famous people...John Ritter, John Stockton, Karl Malone, and Boy George (remember him).  She loves the ocean, home repair projects, do-it-yourself beauty products like shampoo, soap, deodorant, lotions, etc.  Loves the sunshine and the color blue.  They moved back to Shelley to stay.  They love it here.

Ward News

We want to welcome Heather Mitchell and family to the Ward.  They live on Quigg.  We are glad to have them in the Ward.

Rhonda Johnson has moved to the 2nd Ward.  We will miss her!

There will be no weekday meeting in June, but we will have Visiting Teaching interviews on the 25th.  More information coming...
