Irene Campbell presented Lesson #4. “It is the will of the Lord to
strengthen and preserve the family unit. The family is the most
important organization in time and in eternity. There is no substitute
for a righteous home. The gospel is family centered; it must be lived
in the family. It is here we receive our greatest and most important
training as we seek to create for ourselves eternal family units
patterned after the family of God our Father.

The lesson was taught by Trish Dixon #3 the Plan of Salvation. It
is a very good lesson and worth the time to read it. President Smith said that, "this mortal probation is a brief period, just a short span
linking the eternity past with the eternity future. Yet it is a period
of tremendous importance....This life is the most vital period in our
eternal existence."
"Treasure up these words in they heart. Be faithful and diligent in keeping the commandments of God, and I will encircle thee in the arms of my love." D & C 6:20

Three thousand years ago, in the ancient Greek mythology, Hestia was the goddess of the hearth and guardian of family life and the temple. It was to Hestia that women turned for protection and inspiration so that they might, as an act of worship, transform their dwelling place into homes of beauty and comfort. Hestia was not rendered in human form. Instead her spiritual presence was honored as an eternal flame, her presence in home and temple was central to everyday life. While Hestia was a mythological creation, her spirit lives in the lives of faithful Relief Society sisters today.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson, (Ensign, November 2013, pg. 29) says: "Women bring with them into the world a certain virtue, a divine gift that makes them adept at instilling, such qualities as faith, courage, empathy, and refinement in relationships and in cultures...a beautiful serenity, a sense of being about God's work...(she is ennobled) by blessing others through service and sacrifice. She is love personified."
In this season of hearts and love and in the spirit of Hestia, may we recognize our eternal value. "My dear sister, your Heavenly Father loves you--each of you. That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions...It is not changed by your talents and abilities. It is simply there...God's love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve love. It is simply always there." (Thomas S. Monson) May you know of our love and concern as well. Next week is Stake Conference February 8th & 9th. Saturday, February 8th - 7:00 p.m. meeting for everyone 12 and older. Sunday, February 9th - 7:00 a.m. Priesthood Leadership Meeting 10:00 a.m. General Session
Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, taught: "What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it?... "I say unto you, that...joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth" (Luke 15:4,7) As we come to understand that Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd, our desire increases to follow His example and serve those in need. Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. ...And I lay down my life for the sheep" (John 10:14-15). Becasue of Christ's Atonement, none of us will ever be so lost that we cannot find our way home (see Luke 15).
I ran across a fun, informative list of ideas on how to stretch your food dollars. Who doesn't want to save money? I thought it was great and wanted to share it with you. I think part of being prepared is being able to save money in one area and therefore having some spare money to put towards our preparedness supply and having it not feel like such a burden. Hope you find the list as informative and full of ideas that you might be able to try. Any question, just give me a call. 357-0444. Brandi Timm
