What you should bring:  Pictures, certificates, historical documents, life stories and sketches.  Anything you want to move from paper to computer file.
What you take home:  A CD with digitized copies of your documents ready to share with family and over the internet.  We can help you add your stories and pictures to the church's Family Tree web site at the same time.  If we have more work than we can get to, we will schedule more work meetings in the near future.

Rick and Janet Evans son Drew is doing as well as can be expected and they are hoping to get him moved to a rehab center in Denver this week.  They would appreciate our prayers.

Elder and Sister Price will be home the end of this week from their mission.

Some members of our ward are in the current melodrama playing at the Virginia Theater.  Mark, Ashley, and Nikki Nelson are in the play.  It's a good one!

Presidency Message

In 1 Nephi chapter 16, we find the story of the Liahona, "a round ball of curious workmanship.  Within the ball were two spindles, and the one pointed the way whither we should go into the wilderness."  By following the direction on the ball, Nephi and his family were led into the more fertile parts of the wilderness.  There was also a writing which was "plain to be read, which did give...understanding considering the ways of the Lord and it was changed from time to time, according to the faith and diligence" which the Nephites gave unto it.  The Liahona gave direction and understanding concerning the ways of the Lord and helped in solving problems.  Wouldn't you love to have your own personal Liahona?

The scriptures are our own personal guide to our personal journey in mortality.  All we have to do to learn how to proceed on our mortal journey is to open the scriptures.  "The scriptures open the door to the receipt of revelation.  All of us are entitled to the spirit of prophecy and of revelation in our lives.  Study and pondering the scriptures will more than any other single thing, bring the spirit of prophecy and the spirit of revelation" (The Liahona Principle, Bradley R. Wilde).  "...Wherefore...feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do." (2 Nephi 32:3)

Open your Liahona.  The Lord's answers, direction and help are found in the scriptures, particularly The Book of Mormon.  President Henry B. Eyring has said:  "Going to the scriptures to learn what to do makes all the difference".  (Ensign, July 1005, 24).

Visiting Teaching

Message for July - Teaching and Learning the Gospel

Jesus Christ was a master teacher.  He set the example for us as He "taught women in multitudes and as individuals, on the street and by the seashore, at the well and in their homes.  He showed loving-kindness toward them and healed them and their family members".
