Lesson Recap

Sister Nichole Couch gave an inspiring lesson on "I Will Not Fail Thee nor Forsake Thee", and " We Never Walk Alone" -  Talks given by President Thomas S. Monson

Our Heavenly Father ...knows that we learn and grow and become stronger as we face and survive the trials through which we must pass.  As we ponder the events that befall all of us, we can say with Job of old," Man is born unto trouble." Job was a man who feared God, and eschewed evil.

Whenever we are inclined to feel burdened down with the blows of life , let us remember that others have passed the same way, and have endured, and have overcome.

You will one day stand aside and look at your difficult times and you will realize that He was always there beside you. Dear sisters, your Heavenly father loves you - each of you.  That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money you have in your bank account, it is not changed by your talents and abilities. It is simply always there..

Weekday Meeting

May 15th, at 7pm is our weekday meeting, and we have a special speaker coming to share some thoughts on the power of women. Carla Grigg is a renowned speaker and we are very blessed to have her come. There will be a  nursery and we hope all will make time to come. You will be very well fed for your efforts.

Stake Centennial Celebration

May 6th at 7pm, the stake will kick off the Centennial celebration at the stake center with a concert and fireside.  In conjunction with this they are asking the members of the stake to read the Book of Mormon with their families in 100 days.  Next week after sacrament meeting there will be a flyer containing this information.

Lesson Recap

Sister Irene Campbell gave a wonderful lesson on The Church and Kingdom of Go From the life of Joseph Fielding Smith.

After centuries of spiritual darkness and Apostasy
the Lord has restored His gospel and organized His
Church on the earth.

The Lord Himself directs the work of the Church, and
it is our privilege to have membership in it.

The Church is organized to help members to find joy and
happiness in this life and eternal life in the life to come.
Our service in the Church expresses love for others and
appreciation for the Lords infinite  service.

In this dispensation, the kingdom of God and the work of
the Lord will spread throughout the world.

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "I leave my blessing
with you and my assurance that God is with his people, and
that the work in which we are engaged shall triumph and roll
forth until the eternal purposes of the Lord are fulfilled."

Happy Birthday!

Preparedness

What kinds of skills would we need to survive in any kind of disaster?  What skills do we already know?  Do we know CPR, or different ways to purify water, how to start a fire without matches, what kinds of berries we could eat in the wild that are not poisonous, do we know basic first aid?  These are just some ideas of things we should learn and feel like we could do if we needed to.  There are classes offered for some survival skills, books to read and the Internet has many videos for people to watch different skill building lessons.  This month try and learn or practice a skill of survival.  It would be a great home evening lesson.  Brandi Timm

Sister Spotlight

Our spotlight is on Sister Linda Johnson.  She was born in Shelley and attended schools in Shelley where she graduated from Shelley High School.  She has lived in Shelley ever since.

I think she loves Shelley, don't you?  (good place to be).  She has 2 sons and 3 daughters, all who live in Shelley except for one daughter who lives in Idaho Falls.  She has 16 beautiful grandchildren.  all of them live local so she gets to spend a lot of time with them.

She loves to work outside in her yard and garden.  She loves to go camping with family and have fun.

She works at Hancock Fabrics in Idaho Falls, loves sewing and doing crafts.

One of her highlights she remembers was when she and her family went to Disneyland and family arranged for a Limo to pick them up from the airport, much to her surprise...So she experienced a bit of royalty.  She and Blake have been married for 48 years.  We love her!

Happy Birthday!

Lesson Recap

Sister Heather Olson gave a wonderful lesson on Joseph and Hyrum Smith, Witnesses for Jesus Christ.  From the Life of Joseph Fielding Smith.

From the time he was young, Joseph Fielding  Smith
Knew that his family had a special connection to the
Prophet Joseph Smith.

The Lord called Joseph Smith to stand at the head of this
glorious dispensation.

The Lord said that this generation would have His word through
the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were united in life and
in death.

Joseph and Hyrum Smith sealed their testimonies with their
blood.

We raise our voices in thanksgiving for the lives and ministries of
the Prophet Joseph Smith, of Hyrum Smith the Patriarch, and
of the prophets and apostles and righteous men and women who
have built on the foundation they laid.
