Free Wheat

Blake Johnson has been hauling wheat and found a leak in his truck. There are two piles, about 40 bushels of wheat that need a home. If you are interested drive down the road that is between Sharon Jones and John and Teresa Cox's homes. Go past the trailer house (Mrs. Stumbo's) and you should see the piles. Bring your buckets and take what you want.

Thought for the week.

" Preach unto them repentance, and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ; teach them to humble themselves and to be meek and lowly in heart; teach them to with stand every temptation of the devil, with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Alma 37: 33)

Many of us try to get out of our addictions through sheer will power or through having faith in a friend or a therapist. Sooner or later we found that our faith in ourselves or others does not enable us to overcome our addictions fully. Write about your feelings today of being humble and willing to turn to Christ and His gospel above all other sources of help in your efforts to overcome your habits.

LDS Web Page - Help for Mental Illness

Mental illness is something that touches most of us either personally or thorough a family member. Mental illness is real. Their is a new Mormon
Message based on the talk by Jeffery R. Holland on mental illness. This video titled "Like a Broken Vessel can be found at LDS.org and is at this moment one of the featured things when you first open the website.

There is also a web page with helps and stories from those who have struggled and continue to struggle with mental illness.  This web page is www.lds.org/mentalhealth. I encourage everyone to check out this web page and watch the video. For those suffering know that you are not alone. For those that know others who suffer from this illness there is support for you and things you can do to help those you love.

4th Sunday Lesson

I apologize for listing the wrong talk for the lesson this Sunday. I accidentally looked at July's lesson and not June's. The talk that the lesson will be based on in Relief Society and Priesthood this week is "In Praise of Those Who Save" by President Uchtdorf.

Overcoming the Natural Man

"It matters not how completely ruined our lives may seem. It matters not how scarlet our sins, how deep our bitterness, how lonely, abandoned, or broken our hearts may be.  Even those who are without hope, who live in despair, who have betrayed trust, surrendered their integrity, or turned away from God can be rebuilt. Save those rare sons of perdition, there is no life so shattered that it cannot be restored." (He Will Place You On His Shoulders and Carry You Home by President Dieter F Uchtdorf, April 2016)

Remember, no one is beyond the healing grace of the Savior's love and atonement. What activities are you doing to increase the spirit of the Holy Ghost in your life and allow the atonement to help you change your behavior? Have you written about then in your journal?

Overcoming the Natural Man

"If ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words" (Alma 32:27).

Becoming aware - or awaking and arousing your faculties - is an important part of the process of learning to believe. In what ways are you more aware today of Jesus Christ and His power in your life than you were last week? Last month? Last year?

Happy Birthday!

Relief Society Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,

While preparing this Sunday’s lesson I came across a conference address from April 2011 by C. Scott Grow of the Seventy entitled The Miracle of the Atonement. I felt impressed to share parts of this talk.

“Not only did He pay the price for the sins of all men, but He also took “upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.” And He took “upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, … that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.”

The Savior felt the weight of the anguish of all mankind―the anguish of sin and of sorrow. “Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows.”

The Lord knows us. He has felt our pain and our sorrow, whether it is from sins we have committed or from hard times in our lives. He knows us and knows how to help us

“There are times when each of us needs “relief from feelings of guilt that come from mistakes and sins.” As we repent, the Savior removes the guilt from our souls.

Through His atoning sacrifice, our sins are remitted. With the exception of sons of perdition, the Atonement is available to everyone all the time, no matter how large or small the sin, “on conditions of repentance.”

The Atonement is for everyone! We all sin, some small, some large. The Atonement is for all our sins and ills.  We must learn to use the atonement in our lives. Not just for the things we see as the “large sins”, but for the small every day sins. The atonement was meant to be used on a daily bases to help us develop the habits that will help us progress and get rid of the ones that don’t.

“The Savior offers healing to those who are suffering from sin. “Will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?”

The Savior wants to heal us! He is almost begging us to return to Him so he can heal us. Don’t let His sacrifice go to waste. Start applying the atonement in your life.

“Jesus Christ is the Great Healer of our souls. With the exception of sins of perdition, there is no sin or transgression, pain or sorrow, which is outside of the healing power of His Atonement.

As you consider your own life, are there things that you need to change? Have you made mistakes that still need to be corrected? If you are suffering from feelings of guilt or remorse, bitterness or anger, or loss of faith, I invite you to seek relief. Repent and forsake your sins. Then, in prayer, ask God for forgiveness. Seek forgiveness from those you have wronged. Forgive those who have wronged you. Forgive yourself.”

Sisters, I echo Brother Grow’s plead. Consider what in your life needs changed, repent and forsake your sins, big or small. Ask for forgiveness and forgive yourself. Let the Lord help you move past those habits that are holding you back. I know this is harder to do then what these printed words make it sound. But with the Lords help and the support of loving family, friends, and ward family members, we can all continue on the right path together.

                                                                   Love, Sister Heather Olsen.
