PIE Service Project
It's time to donate to the community food bank "PIE" fund. We need to gather all donations by November 24th. We are the only ward that provides the pies for the community Thanksgiving baskets given out by the food bank. We would appreciate your donation. Please give to a member of the Relief Society Presidency or on your donation slip in the "other" column write "pie donation".
As a personal note, my children and I were asked by the Relief Society one year to deliver the pies to the Food Bank. You would not believe the gratitude of these good brothers and sisters, who work so hard at the Food Bank, for these pies. They couldn't thank us enough. The floor was lined with boxes with the makings for a thanksgiving dinner in each of them--all for people in our area who cannot provide this for themselves. It touched our hearts. We can be the Lord's hands in this simple gift.

Presidency Message
I was listening to the mormon channel the other day. Elder Christofferson had a mormon message called, "Daily Bread" experience. Following that I listened to a CES fireside that he gave also called "Daily Bread". I urge you all to take a few minutes and listen to these.
To a large degree our faith in God is a fruit of our experience. It helps at times not to think to far ahead. Just do what the day requires. Give us this day our daily bread. Don't anticipate the hardship ahead, we sometimes just have to break it down to this moment, this day. Maybe the greatest blessing is to have to walk through this life with Him. He is the one we aspire to become. These were a few of the thoughts shared by Elder Christofferson, and I was lifted by his words and thoughts. I know that Heavenly Father loves us, and that if we trust in the Lord with all our heart; and lean not unto our own understanding as says in Proverbs, we through our walk, become like him. I know that we are never alone. We have a trusted friend, brother who is there for us through any and everything we experience.

October Preparedness Thought
The
preparedness challenge for October is getting your important documents
in order. You should put copies in a secure safe place you can get
access to if needed to leave quickly, this can be paper copies put in
a waterproof Ziploc bag or electronic copies of your documentation.
Your originals and your copies should not be stored in the same
place. Here is a list of suggested items you would want in your
documentation package.
Just to give you an example how important your documentation is, after the Charolette fire in Pocatello, no one was allowed into the fire damaged area (except emergency personnel) unless they could show proof or residency. They had to have their drivers license or something else that showed picture and address.
Documentation is something we probably all take a bit for granted, (how often are we really going to need it all put together) but extremely important to have in the case of an emergency.
I have to say even I am not jumping for super joy excitement when I think of the process of gathering all our document together, but I know it is very important and could be the difference in an emergency. I know we will all be grateful we have put the work in to getting this done in case we ever need to rely on them in an emergency.
I challenge everyone to gather your documents and get them in order this month. We will all be one step closer to being ready and prepared for anything. And that should make us feel more at peace.
