A Few Reminders

General Conference will be this coming weekend on Saturday April 2nd and Sunday April 3rd. Take the time to prepare spiritually to receive revelation as you listen/watch Conference this weekend.

With Conference the first weekend, Fast Sunday will be moved to April 10th.

Women's Comference

I hope you were able to listen to the Women's Conference this past Saturday. Leaders focused on service and announced the launching of a new website. www.iwasastranger.lds.org.  If you missed it, you can view or listen to the conference on lds.org and there are also summaries of the talks available too.

Sister Cheryl A. Esplin, First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency gave us some questions to think about.

"Other kinds of service take time, intentional planning, and extra energy. But they are worth our every effort. Perhaps we could start by asking ourselves these questions:
  1. Who in my circle of influence could I help today?
  2. What time and resources do I have?
  3. In what ways can I use my talents and skills to bless others?
  4. What might we do as a family? …"
Let us think about what more we can do to serve others this week for we are the Lord's hands here on the earth to reach out and help and lift others.

Thanks and Welcome!

We want to thank Luanne Thompson for her work as Visiting Teaching Coordinator and Nicole Couch as our 4th Sunday teacher. You ladies have done a fabulous job thanks for all the time and effort you have put in on behalf of the women of our ward!

We will also be sending the  sign up sheets around again next week. Thanks!

Face to Face

There will be a Face to Face event for young single adults with Elder Holland- March 8th  at 6 p.m. You can watch it on LDS.org or the Mormon Channel. While this event is for the young single adults it should be amazing and wonderful for everyone to watch.

Sabbath Day Message

Sacrament meetings are the most important meeting that we attend each week. This is the place where we participate in the ordinance of the sacrament. The chapel is a dedicated sanctuary where this ordinance takes place for each of us each week. We should not casually attend this meeting. We need to be there on time and be ready so that we can feel of the spirit. We need to be prepared to partake of and engage in this this sacred ordinance, which is the only one we ever repeat. The brethren have asked us to please put away our electronic devices during this meeting and focus on the sacrament as well as the talks given, which are there to help us learn and grow. The Lord blesses us with so much and doesn’t ask for much in return. Ask yourself: “Am I willing to give the Lord one hour and ten minutes of my time out of the 168 hours in my week?”

Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,
Do you ever have moments when you want to be better than you have ever been? Those feelings may be triggered by seeing a person or a family member living in a way that lifts your heart with a yearning to live that way, too. Or maybe it can come from reading a book, listening to a conference talk, listening to music, studying your scriptures. For me, it has come in all those ways, and more.
Hopefully you have had these impressions in your life. You may have felt a tug, maybe many tugs, to be someone better. And what sets those yearnings apart from all your daydreams is that they were not about being richer, or smarter, or more attractive, but about being better. David O McKay once said, "Man is a spiritual being, a soul, and at some period of his life everyone is possessed with an irresistible desire to know his relationship to the Infinite... There is something within him to rise above himself, to control his environment, to master the body and all things physical and live in a higher and more beautiful world."
That pull upward is far beyond what you would call a desire for self-improvement. What you have felt is an urging from your Heavenly Father to accept this invitation: "Yea, Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot." (Moroni 10:32-33)
That urge to rise above yourself is a recognition of your need for the Atonement to work in your life, and your need to be sure it's working. After all we can do, after all your effort, we need the confidence that the Atonement is working for you and on you.
Specific steps to assure that the Atonement is at work in your life will not always be the same. However, there are some constants. You can invite the companionship of the Holy Ghost. It is a cleansing agent as the Atonement purifies you. Marion G. Romney taught: " Receiving the Holy Ghost is the therapy which effects forgiveness and heals the sun sin-sick soul." That is a fact you can act on with confidence. And when he is your companion, you can be assured that the Atonement is working in your life.
I would like to encourage you to make some choices today or this week that will bring the Holy Ghost to you as your companion. I bear my testimony that you can invite the Holy Ghost into your life and he will come. That yearning that we have felt for something better is a yearning to come unto Christ. Don't ignore the impulses that come to you.
Thank you all for your wonderful examples that urge me to be better.
Love, Krishaun Player
