Lesson Recap

This week's lesson was given by Sister Nicole Couch. The lesson was from the talk given by Carole M. Stephens "The Family Is of God".  We are all children of Heavenly Father which makes us all family.  As such, we should love and care for one another.  As we all go through the trials of life it is important to love and support those around us and in return accept help from others.  Sister Stephens said," Sisters, we belong.  We are loved.  We are needed.  We have a divine role in the Church and kingdom of God and in His eternal family. Do you know deep in your heart that your Heavenly Father loves you and desires you and those you love to be with Him?  Just as "Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ are perfect. . . , Their hopes for us are perfect." Their plan for us is perfect, and Their promises are sure." Do we each know in our heart that Heavenly Father loves us and desires us to live with Him again? Sister Couch wrote out some words from the lesson:
Support
Connect
Rally
Unite
Belong
Be One
The first letter of each word creates the word SCRUBB.  We can be Scrubb Sisters by supporting each other.  Connecting with, Rallying around, Uniting, Belonging, and Being One as sisters.  As we help each other and love all around us we can help accomplish the work our Father in Heaven has for us and be able to return to Him someday.

21 Day Challenge

Hey everyone! I hope you are all enjoying this 21 day challenge to have a more balanced life.  I have a few ideas to help you in a couple different areas so here you go!

Here are a few healthy snack options.  I know when I am eating better I need quick healthy snacks that I can grab if I get a craving or when I'm hungry and need something "right now".

* apple - dip it in almond butter (homemade is delicious)
* a piece of Dark chocolate
* veggies and hummus
* a few raw nuts and a piece of fruit- almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews
* a green smoothie leftover from breakfast
* half an avocado with a scoop of fresh pico de gallo
* a hard boiled egg
* a cup of berries (add some greek yogurt if you want)

It was mentioned in relief society 2 weeks ago that there is an instagram account bom365 that gives a scripture everyday with a question to think about and a conference talk to read.  I have loved reading the conference talks and scriptures as something extra to read and think about,  If you have an instagram account i recommend checking it out. One of the conference talks recently suggested that I loved was from Elder Bruce R, McConkie- Be Valiant in the Fight of Faith- November 1974.  You can search lds.org for the talk or just enjoy our recent April conference and all those wonderful talks.

Remember to keep track of your points! Also remember to do the extra challenges for 2 extra points each day, for each one that you do this week!

Lesson Recap # 10 Flooding the Earth and Our Lives with the Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon was written for our day. As we read and study the Book of Mormon we should ask ourselves these questions. "Why did the Lord inspire Mormon (or Moroni or Alma) to include that in his record? What lessons can I learn from that to help me live in this day and age."
The Book of Mormon will help us and strengthen us each day if we will read and study from it's pages each day. President Benson said, " There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path.  . . . When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance."
We need to flood our lives with this wonderful book, and then the earth. How do you flood your life with the Book of Mormon. What could you do to increase the flooding of your life?

Happy Birthday

May Presidency Message

April showers did bring May flowers.  Aren’t they beautiful to behold!  I love spring.  It is so refreshing. And Women’s Conference this March 28th was filed with refreshing renewal of thoughts.
We celebrate 20 years of the Proclamation of the family and 100 years of Family Home Evening.
Cheryl Esplin taught that we sisters need to be filled with light and truth.   The Holy Ghost can teach us all things by our prayers, scripture study, and also through our dreams and thoughts.  We must use quiet moments to listen and seek.
Carole Stephens talked to us about families.  They are from God and we belong to an eternal family.  WE are here on earth to live and learn, to be tried and tested and then strengthened.  We sisters unite in the diversities of life through our empathy and compassion.  BE ONE.  His plan is a plan of love and the gospel is who we are.
Topping off things with Bonnie Oscarson, she states that God has a mission and plan for us only in His time.  Be a defender of the Lord’s doctrine.  Remember marriage is between a man and a woman, and there are divine roles for mothers and fathers here on earth and in heaven.  We need to keep the sanctity of home by keeping it a refuge and in well order like a temple.
Such choice thoughts for us as sisters! May we remember and do!

Love, Sister Hendrix

21 Day Challenge

There are many days we feel our lives are out of balance and we want to feel the balance between the spiritual, physical, and mental in our lives. We are going to have a 21 day challenge starting May 18th to help us get a closer to having that balance in our lives. We will be explaining things this Sunday in Relief Society, Young Women's, and Primary. Please join with us as we try to become our best balanced self. We will be ending the challenge with a party on June 10th to celebrate what we learned.

Lesson Recap

The Book of Mormon- Keystone of Our Religion #9

"President Benson said, "How important is the Book of Mormon? Joseph Smith called it "the keystone of our religion'. Take away the Book of Mormon and the revelations and where is our religion? We have none." Joseph Smith said that,  " . . . a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." President Benson continues that thought when he said, " . . . Is there not something deep in our hearts that longs to draw nearer to God, to be more like Him in our daily walk, to feel His presence with us constantly? If so then the Book of Mormon with help us do so more than any other book . . ."
If we will read the Book of Mormon daily it will help us learn and grow in the gospel. While we all have many favorite stories from the Book of Mormon what is your most favorite story and why? What had the Book of Mormon done for you in your life?

Lesson Recap

Sister Hendrix gave our lesson on Seeing Ourselves as God Sees Us.  We are all beautiful.  The world sees beauty on the outside but a truly beautiful person is beautiful on the inside.  Some of the ways a person is beautiful on the inside is by being kind and speaking kindly to others, dressing modestly, having a smile on your face, and letting the light of Christ shine through you.

Happy Birthday!!

Hope you all have a fabulous birthday!
