Jordan is serving in Clinton, Iowa and the surrounding area in Iowa and Illinois. This area has been one of his favorites. It is a beautiful area as it is along the Mississippi River. This past week on p-day he and the rest of his zone were able to go to the nearby state park and explore the Maquoketa Caves. For those of you that know Jordan very well this was a highlight of his week as he got to hike, climb, explore and get dirty.
He is kept very busy teaching investigators and helping his zone. Jordan loves the people he teaches. They have a few investigators as well as less actives they work with. Currently they have two people Don and Roberta who are progressing towards baptism.
He has had many opportunities to serve in this area. Recently the Red Cross along with the Catholic Church and the LDS Church went through the neighborhoods and installed smoke detectors in homes. That was a really neat experience and although they didn't teach that day they really made an impression on the other workers and people they helped.
He loves the people on Iowa and will be sad to leave them to come home in July.

Mission Update - Merlin and Joy Price
Here is an update from Merlin and Joy Price about their mission.
Thanks for your e-mail. We do love our
mission. We have really been blessed to have some great missions.
We serve in the Washington DC Temple every day except Sunday and Monday.
We work 6 to 7 hours a day on different shifts per day. If a holiday
falls on a Monday all Missionaries have to work that day, because it is one of
the busiest days. On Saturdays, we have large groups of young people
coming to do baptisms for the dead and most of them are bringing their own
names to do the work for.their ancestors. There are 32 couples and
5 single sister missionaries serving here. We all live in an apartment
complex built just for the missionaries and we are only about 5 minutes away
from the temple but it is difficult to walk to the temple so we drive there.
This temple is huge and there are a lot of workers from the stakes
(covering Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey,
Delaware) serving here as well and they are called District Workers and many of
them drive several hours to get here to serve.
We are ordinance workers so we can officiate in
all areas of the temple except being a Sealer. Joy is assigned as
director of the youth center, so when families come to be sealed, she has a big
job overseeing their care, getting the children dressed in their white clothes
and help them to their sealing. Often there is more than one family at a
time, so that keeps her busy on those days. We have a lot of "Own
Endowments" for marriages and missionaries getting ready to go on
their mission. Merlin is a trainer and helps new ordinance workers become
familiar with the procedures and how to perform the ordinances. Joy is
also counselor in our ward Relief Society and Merlin is Family History
Consultant.
Often on Monday (preparation day) we are
able to see the sites in Washington and visit some of our ancestors sites.
Please tell Terry and Janice Fitzgerald how
grateful we are for their monthly letter keeping us up to date with the Ward.

Ward Trek
The ward will be going on another trek next year. It will be July 31, 2017 - August 3, 2017. This is for anyone in the ward. The families and individuals who go will need to cover their own costs as the ward will not be paying for it. We will begin at the 6th crossing of the Willie Company and trek there then go to Martin's Cove and do more there. Last time this was an amazing experience for those of us who went. We encourage everyone to mark this on their calendars and plan on coming. We will have more information in the future.

Family History and Temple Names
Family History Stories
Have you noticed the family history story inserts in the ward bulletin each Sunday? Bro.Rick Evans puts them in. But he has run out of stories! Bishop would like everybody to try to contribute at least one family story to share with the ward. If you can think of any stories that you would like to share, please get in touch with Bro. Evans and send it to him!
Temple Names
The stake has challenged our ward to come up with at least 8 members that can submit family names to have their work done. If you need help with this, come join the Family History sunday school class. Please help us meet this goal!

April Presidency Message
Dear Sisters,
We have just celebrated the Relief Society’s birthday. The humble beginnings of Relief Society in 1842 started with the sisters mending clothes for temple workers and donating time, money and supplies. In Chapter 2 of Daughters in My Kingdom this is explained. “Since the organization of the Church in 1830, Latter-day Saint women have found countless ways to give service. They have been true to the words of the Savior: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” When the Prophet Joseph Smith led efforts to build a temple in Kirtland, Ohio, sisters saw many needs among the construction workers and their families. As Sarah M. Kimball recounted, “The women would churn and cheerfully send their butter to the workmen on the Temple and eat without any on their own tables.” The sisters also saw a need to make carpets and draperies for the temple. Polly Angell recalled a comment by Joseph Smith as he saw them working. He said: “The sisters are always first and foremost in all good works. Mary [Magdalene] was first at the resurrection; and the sisters now are the first to work on the inside of the temple. From the hearts of these sisters flowed a great desire to engage in good works. They did so with wool and wagons, soap and sewing, food and finery, time and talents. Through their new society, the women of the Church acted according to their natural sympathies to build up the Lord’s Church.”
One of the main principles the Relief Society was founded on is Service. As the wonderful sisters who started this organization did, we must also embrace charitable service. If you are one of the many women who feel like you have nothing to give or don’t know where to start, remember what Henry B. Eyring said in a 2009 conference address, “The part of the foundation they laid for you which seems to me most important and persistent is that charity is at the heart of the society and is to come into the heart, to be part of the very nature, of every member. Charity meant to them far more than a feeling of benevolence. Charity is born of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and is an effect of His Atonement working in the hearts of the members.” If you have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, then start there and let that faith and love for him build in your heart. You will soon find that you cannot contain it within yourself and must share that love with others. But it can also work the other way around too. If you are struggling with your faith, go and serve. You will soon find that sharing the love of Christ through service will soon strengthen your faith like nothing else can.
Pres. Eyring pointed out that charity is an effect of His Atonement working in the hearts of the members. One of the many blessing of the Atonement is knowing that Christ and Heavenly Father loved us so much that they were willing to forgive our sins and sacrifice Jesus’s life so that we can return to them. When we truly repent and use the Atonement in our lives we have a greater understanding of His love for us. That love is where charity begins. Share it with others, seek out opportunities to love and forgive others as Jesus did. Serve your family, neighbors and strangers. It does not matter who you serve or what the service is, just as long as you are serving others and spreading the love of Jesus Christ.
It is my hope that we, like the sisters who started this organization those many years ago, will actively look for and seek out opportunities to serve and fill the needs of those around us. I testify that as you do your faith, love for the Savior and others, and your happiness will grow.
Happy birthday!!
