Lesson Recap

The lesson was Chapter 21: Principles of temporal and spiritual welfare President Benson said,"… The Lord will not do for us what we can and should do for ourselves. But it is his purpose to take care of his Saints. Everything that concerns the economic, social, and spiritual welfare of the human family is and ever will be the concern of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The strength of the Church welfare program lies in every family following the inspired direction of the Church leaders to be self-sustaining through adequate preparation. God intends for his Saints to so prepare themselves “that the church [as the Lord has said] may stand independent above all other creatures beneath the celestial world.” (D&C 78:14.)
"We should ask the Lord’s blessings on all our doings and should never do anything upon which we cannot ask His blessings. We should not expect the Lord to do for us what we can do for ourselves. I believe in faith and works, and that the Lord will bless more fully the man who works for what he prays for than He will the man who only prays."
As we strive to follow the prophet, we will increase our food storage and learn ways to properly store our food.  There will come a time when we will need to be prepared. It might not be an end of the world situation but possibly a loss of job or financial set backs.  We are asked to be prepared and to work for our means and as we do so we will be blessed and our Father in Heaven will provide for and bless us.

Lesson Recap

Sister Krishaun Player gave the lesson yesterday on knowing our purpose and having real intent. "It is important in today's world to be intentional about why we do what we do."
"Living with real intent means understanding the "why" and being aware of the motives behind our actions." "Real intent is doing the right things for the right reasons."
As we try to live with real intent and do more than just going through the motions our lives will blessed as we will learn what Heavenly Father would have us learn.

November Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,
Can you believe that we are approaching the end of the year? It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the New Year and making resolutions and goals. Time seems to be speeding up. Because time is going so fast, it is hard sometimes to take a moment and look around at the many blessings we have. As many of you know, going into any department store you can already buy Christmas decorations and candy. There are commercials advertising for Christmas and our kids are already writing their letters to Santa. Sadly, Thanksgiving gets swept away with the other holidays.
I love Thanksgiving! Besides the food of course, it’s a wonderful time to be with Family and remember all our blessings. President Gordan B. Hinkley has said, “When you walk with gratitude, you do not walk with arrogance and conceit and egotism, you walk with a spirit of thanksgiving that is becoming to you and will bless your lives.” This month is a good time to step back and count our blessings and have more gratitude in our hearts.
Everyone’s situation is different, and the details of each of our lives is unique. However, gratitude has been the one thing that can take away bitterness or disappointment. Gratitude is the one thing we can have that will make life more joyful and fulfilling.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, “It might sound contrary to the wisdom of the world to suggest that one who is burdened with sorrow should give thanks to God. But those who set aside the bottle of bitterness and lift instead the goblet of gratitude can find a purifying drink of healing, peace, and understanding. As disciples of Christ, we are commanded to “thank the Lord [our] God in all things,” to “sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving,” and to “let [our] heart be full of thanks unto God.”
I hope that we can all make a goal this month to take a minute to count our blessings and remember the love that Heavenly Father has for each of us.

Love, Krishaun Player
