Relief Society Presidency Message

At my house, in my dining room, I have a chalkboard that I write different quotes on. I change the quote every few weeks when I find another one I like or think will help my family with struggles they are going through. Right now I have a quote from President Uchtdorf on it that I would like to share with you.  It is, “The Lord has more in mind for you than you have in mind for yourself. You have been reserved and preserved for this time and place. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!”

We can do hard things, but only with our Saviors help can we do hard things well. We all have trials and struggles. All you have to do is talk to someone or even look around and see that trials are there for all of us in some form or another. However, with those trials comes a choice to endure or endure well. There is a difference. I can only speak from my personal experience, but when I face trials and challenges that rock my world and rock my faith, I try to turn to the Savior. He is the one who knows what I feel when my heart is being torn in two and ripped from my body. He is the one who understand that I don’t want to face the day, or even sometimes go to church and take care of my responsibilities because I am hurting too much.  My dear sisters, we must turn to him!  We must give our hearts to him! Then we must go on and do what he has asked us to do; work, take care of our families, fill ourselves spiritually, go to all our meetings on Sunday. The list could go on and on. It is hard!!! No one is immune to these challenges or these feelings, but we are responsible for how we deal with these actions.

As I tell myself and my family, DON’T LET SATAN WIN.  Keep going, keep moving forward, keep your spiritual lamps filled with oil, and you will be able to not only endure, but endure well. I love each of you and want you to know that the Lord loves you and knows you. He is always there for you. As long as He is your foundation the storms of life cannot win, but you can!

Changes Coming to the Cannary

The following is from a email I received from the Stake Relief Society Presidency which they received from the cannary. If you have questions I will try to answer them. I have a price list that should be current if you want prices on things or an idea what is available.

I want to make you aware of some major changes that will be taking place here at the Idaho Falls Home Storage Center. Currently, there are only 12 Home Storage Centers in the system that offer self-canning in ...the Home Storage Center and also offer the full variety of bulk products that are available to purchase, and Idaho Falls is one of those 12 Centers.
Note:
- The Self-canning that we do here at the Home Storage Center will come to an end on October 31st. This also means that the can sealers we lend out will go away, along with cans, lids, etc.
-Also, the wide variety of bulk products we offer for sales, with the exception of Hard Red Wheat and Hard White Wheat, will no longer be available for purchase after December 31st. (Please Note: All the Bulk Products that are being discontinued are and will still be available for purchase in the Pre-Packaged containers.)

If Patrons are interested in making any purchases of the bulk products that we carry, they should probably make arrangements to make those purchases soon, as the availability of bulk product will be affected as inventories are drawn down. I have attached a current price sheet of all the products that are currently available for your reference. After December 31st the only bulk products that will be available, will be the Hard Red Wheat and the Hard White Wheat. All of the Pre-Packed Products will continue to be offered and will all be available for purchase. The Pre-Packed Products are not affected by these changes.

We are already planning our Ward Christmas Party for Dec 10th. We will be having a Back to Bethlehem night.  This is going to require a lot of help from the ward family to do. We are looking for people to help with the different stalls in Bethlehem. One family will be the lead family who signs up and then they are to contact 2-3 families to help them with the stall. The cost for the supplies for activities and the food in the booths will be covered by the ward. The stalls/booths still needing someone to help lead them are: Beeswax Candles, Pottery, Fruit Stand, Cheese and Olives, Pita Inn, Nativity Scene.  The list will be passed around again next Sunday or you can contact Jake Barney (208)681-7523 or Meg Barney (208)390-9166, if you are willing to help.

Emergency Prepardness

The Stake is focusing on Emergency Preparedness.  the Emergency Preparedness Committee for our ward is trying to compile a list of resources/skills that can be used in an emergency.  Items might include: ham radios, generators, ATVs, tents, grills for cooking etc.. Skills could include medical training, survival training, first responder etc. Please be thinking of what you and your family have that would be useful to help our ward family in case of an emergency.  There will be a sheet being sent around for the next few Sundays that you can list things on, or contact Bobby Tincher or Jed Lewis.
