Lesson Recap
This week's lesson was on Elder Bednar's talk from the April conference entitled Bear Up Their Burdens With Ease. This is a beautiful talk on the Atonement of Jesus Christ with an emphasis on how He helps carry our "load". He says, " the Savior has suffered not just for our sins and iniquities—but also for our physical pains and anguish, our weaknesses and shortcomings, our fears and frustrations, our disappointments and discouragement, our regrets and remorse, our despair and desperation, the injustices and inequities we experience, and the emotional distresses that beset us.
There is no physical pain, no spiritual wound, no anguish of soul or heartache, no infirmity or weakness you or I ever confront in mortality that the Savior did not experience first. In a moment of weakness we may cry out, “No one knows what it is like. No one understands.” But the Son of God perfectly knows and understands, for He has felt and borne our individual burdens. And because of His infinite and eternal sacrifice (see Alma 34:14), He has perfect empathy and can extend to us His arm of mercy. He can reach out, touch, succor, heal, and strengthen us to be more than we could ever be and help us to do that which we could never do relying only upon our own power. Indeed, His yoke is easy and His burden is light."

Lesson Recap
This weeks lesson was Chapter 16: Bringing up Children in Truth and
Light. President Smith taught that parents should do all they can to
help their children understand and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. We
need to shelter children from the evils of the world as much as we can
and teach them the gospel so their testimonies will grow. We were given
eight ways to help bring our children up in truth and light. 1- set a
righteous example 2- begin teaching children when they are young 3-
teach children to pray 4- introduce children to the scriptures 5 - hold
family home evening 6- teach virtue, chastity, and morality 7-prepare
children to be witnesses of the truth and to serve missions 8- help
children prepare to have eternal families of their own. "[Children] are
given unto us that we might train them in the ways of life, eternal
life, that they might come back again into the presence of God, their
Father."

Lesson Recap
Heather Olsen did a wonderful job teaching us
about Eternal Marriage. Joseph Fielding Smith said, “There is no
ordinance connected with the Gospel of Jesus Christ of greater
importance, of more solemn and sacred nature, and more necessary to
[our] eternal joy . . . than marriage.” This blessing will be available
to all even if they did not have the opportunity in this life. “No one
will be deprived of exaltation who remains faithful.” Being married in
the temple is not the end it is just the beginning. We must work in our
marriages every day to make them eternal marriages. Heather used Elder
L. Whitney Claytons talk from the April 2013 Conference titled,
“Marriage: Watch and Learn” to give us ideas to help make our marriages
eternal. He gave us 5 different things to help us in our marriage.
First, consider your relationship to be a pearl beyond price. Second,
build your foundation faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Third, rely on
the gift of repentance. Fourth, treat each other with respect and as
equal partners. Fifth, live together in love. This is a wonderful talk
and she encouraged us to read it and apply the message in it.

Lesson Recap
Sister Shirley Lundquist gave our lesson today about the importance of
protecting our homes from pornography. There are things we can do as
parents to protect our children from pornography such as putting filters
and blocks on electronic devices, monitoring the things our kids are
watching and working on our relationship with our kids so they feel they
can talk to us if they are exposed to harmful images. The most
important thing we can do though is to create a Christ-centered home
where our children learn about the atonement and know that we can all be
forgiven.

Presidency Message
I have always loved this scripture and have found that it brings me a feeling of hope and security whenever I feel a little down or something is not going just right in my life. I hope that you will also find some peace in reading this. It is found in Alma 7:23-24.
"23 And now I would that ye should be humble and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.
24 And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works."
We as a presidency love each and every sister in this ward. We have the desire to serve you in any way that we can.

Preparedness
I do not sew. I can hem, make bean bags, pj pants, and blankets with character, but it is not something I do unless I have to. Many of you do sew, so this thought might seem odd to you but it's still worth mentioning. If we had to mend our own clothing or even make clothing or blankets, do we have the supplies we need to do this? I asked myself that the other day; my answer was probably not for long. I decided I need to grab more thread and needles and even watch for fabric that goes on clearance, to have in storage. Needles and thread or a little sewing kit would be good to have in 72 hour kits. You never know when you might have to fix a hole!
