Lesson Recap
Lesson 14: The Gift of the Holy Ghost
Sister Shirley Lundquist gave this lesson and pointed out how personal a topic this is. "The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. The mission of the Holy Ghost is to bear witness of the Father and the Son and of all truth. You cannot get the gift of the Holy Ghost by praying for it, by paying your tithing, by keeping the Word of Wisdom—not even by being baptized in water for the remission of sins. You must complete that baptism with the baptism of the Spirit. We may after baptism and confirmation become companions of the Holy Ghost who will teach us the ways of the Lord, quicken our minds and help us to understand the truth. It is the privilege of every member of the Church to know the truth, to speak by the truth, to have the inspiration of the Holy Ghost; it is our privilege, individually, … to receive the light and to walk in the light; and if we continue in God, that is, keep all of His commandments, we shall receive more light until eventually there shall come to us the perfect day of knowledge. [See D&C 50:24.]"

Leson Recap
Our
lesson this past Sunday was on Baptism. We learned that baptism by
immersion is in similitude of birth, death, and resurrection. Baptism
is, first, the means by which the repentant individual obtains remission
of sins. Second, it is the gateway into the kingdom of God. Little
children who have not reached the years of accountability ( age 8 ) do
not need baptism because they are redeemed through the Atonement of
Jesus Christ. Every person who is baptized into the Church has made a
covenant with the Lord. After baptism, to gain the full blessings of
the gospel, we must continue to be humble, repentant, and obedient.

Lesson Recap
Rayanne
Cook gave the lesson on how to strengthen our families each day. She compared our families to quilts. Each day as we go about our daily lives we
are creating more squares for our quilts.
When we spend time together, let leach person know they are an important
part of the family, put Christ at the center of our homes, laugh, read the
scriptures and pray, we are adding to our quilts. All that we do is held
together by the love we have for our families and the gospel binds the quilt
together. If we do the best we can, and
then have faith and trust in the Lord he will take our
families and make something glorious and beautiful.

Don't Forget!!!
Our Stake President, Mark Searle, has issued several
challenges to be completed in the next 100 days before the anniversary
of the forming of our Stake. He promised us that as we strive
to accomplish these goals, our homes will be blessed and we will become
closer to our families as well as our Heavenly Father. They are as
follows:
1. Read the Book of Mormon in 100 days. This comes out to about 2 1/2 chapters per day or 5-6 pages. There are tracking sheets available at church to help you progress.
2. 100% Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching.
3. 100% Family and Individual Prayer.
4. Index 100 Names.
5. Attend the temple as frequently as possible in the next 100 days.
6. Invite someone to listen to the missionaries within the next 100 days.
Let us all accept these challenges to the best of our abilities so that we may each be blessed.

The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Advocate
Jesus Christ is our Advocate with the Father. the word advocate has Latin Roots meaning "one who pleads for another." The Savior pleads for us, using understanding, justice, and mercy. Knowing this can fill us with love and gratitude for His Atonement.
"Listen to Jesus Christ who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him - "Saying; Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;
"Wherefore, Father, spare these by brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life" (D&C 45:3-5)

Preparedness Thought
Have you ever thought to buy extra seeds to store at your home? It's a good time to get those seeds! Many stores put them on sale and even clearance now. As long as seeds don't get wet or moist, they last for a very long time. I store them in a number 10 can that keeps them all together and dry. We never know when we might need seeds to plant, so it's a great time to be prepared and have some extra on hand. Brandi Timm
