Information

The youth are doing baptisms for the dead in March.  If you have any family names you would like them to do please contact either Lisa Dye, 339-1920 or Lloyd Lee, 604-3578.

Please remember to return your surveys on weekday meeting before March 1st!!! Thanks.

The Family Finance class ends this Thursday, and we will let you know if and when they will begin this class again.  The last class was attended by three from our ward and they said the class was full and very informative.

We are trying to get a picture of every family in the ward for the ward phone book.  If you will cooperate we can put it together really quick.  Please gather your family together after church and come into the gym and we will take your picture.  We will also be taking pictures at the soup and bread dinner this Wednesday.  If you would rather put in a professional one, then you must email it to lundquist@ida.net by March 5th or take it over to Randy Lundquist.

Presidency Message

How did Christ serve?  He was unassuming and humble.  One of the greatest acts of service is shown when Christ is with his disciples right before the Passover, near the end of his mortal life.  He is there in a room with those that, "he loved unto the end."

Supper was over and we can picture how heavy Christ was with the weight of everything that was to take place and begin to descend upon him.  He knew that Judas was going to betray him.  He rose from supper, and performed a task that was very menial, he filled a basin with water and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel he was girded with.  Can you see all the disciples as he tenderly and lovingly took their feet in his hands and cleaned them gently one by one?  Now Peter, he loved the Savior, and he wasn't about to let his Holy Master wash his feet.  Let's put this into a real life situation for us.  Let's say that we have been asked to feed dinner to the President of BYU-I, Kim Clark.  We have enjoyed a nice dinner, and he arises and removes his suit coat, and begins to fill the sink with water and wash the dishes.  Sisters, how does that make you feel?  This gave me a greater look into Peter's heart.  But Jesus said, "If I wash thee not, thou has no part of me."  Then Peter says, "not my feet only, but my hands and head."

Now can you picture Christ washing Peters feet?  Can you see him as he washes Judas feet?  For he did.  Do you think he washed his feet any differently?  More quickly, more rough.  As he looked into Judas's face was there disgust?  I don't see it.  I see love.

When Christ served, he served without judgement in his heart.  He served with all his heart, to those who loved him, and those whose hearts were filled with hate.  It is easier for most of us to serve than be served, but Christ did both, He served gently and tenderly and he allowed others to serve him.  Christ then puts back on his clothes and teaches them.  That He being the greatest, has served them, they need to serve others, too.  Christ said, "Happy are ye if ye do this".

Sisters as we serve our assigned sisters, and in our calling in the First Ward, let us remember that Christ served with love and he didn't judge those he served.  He is our perfect example.  Remember this is the way to BE HAPPY!!    Sister Strupp

A Valentine

A Valentine by Grace Noll Crowell

I found an old, old valentine
Of my mother's yesterday;
An age-stained, lacy, lovely thing
That she had put away
Between the covers of a book;
And as I touched it there,
I saw her young and beautiful,
The sunlight on her hair,
The love-light in her dark, young eyes
That years could not destroy;
And through the paper lace there walked
My father as a boy.

Somewhere along the heavenly lanes
Today, their eyes ashine,
I think he asks her once again
To be his Valentine.
