Lesson Recap

The lesson was on President Eyring's talk Continuing Revelation.
"We all know that human judgment and logical thinking will not be enough to get answers to the questions that matter most in life.  We need revelation form God. And we will need not just one revelation in a time of stress, but we need a constantly renewed stream. We need not just one flash of light and comfort, but we need the continuing blessings of communication with God." Once we receive the revelations we need to act on what has been revealed to us because the value of the revelation depends on what we do with it.
We have a unique opportunity in a couple of weeks to listen to conference. As you listen to conference listen to the "words of those God has called to speak for Him, I pray that you will receive the confirming revelation you need to find your way on the journey home again, to dwell with Him in a sealed family forever."

Lesson Recap

The lesson this week was #6 Jesus Christ, Our Savior and Redeemer. It is a beautiful lesson that should be read in its entirety.  Here is just a small part of President Ezra Taft Benson's testimony of Jesus Christ:
" My message and testimony is this: Only Jesus Christ is uniquely qualified to provide that hope, that confidence, and that strength we need to overcome the world and rise above our human failings. To do so, we must place our faith in Him and live by His laws and teachings. …
Faith in Him is more than mere acknowledgment that He lives. It is more than professing belief. Faith in Jesus Christ consists of complete reliance on Him. As God, He has infinite power, intelligence, and love. There is no human problem beyond His capacity to solve. Because He descended below all things (see D&C 122:8), He knows how to help us rise above our daily difficulties.
Faith in Him means believing that even though we do not understand all things, He does. We, therefore, must look to Him “in every thought; doubt not, fear not.” (D&C 6:36.)
Faith in Him means trusting that He has all power over all men and all nations. There is no evil which He cannot arrest. All things are in His hands. This earth is His rightful dominion. Yet He permits evil so that we can make choices between good and evil.
His gospel is the perfect prescription for all human problems and social ills.
But His gospel is only effective as it is applied in our lives. Therefore, we must “feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” (2 Ne. 32:3.)
Unless we do His teachings, we do not demonstrate faith in Him."

Lesson Recap

#5 - Principles of True Repentance
President Benson said, "The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature . . . "
The gospel plan is the plan of happiness. The purpose of repentance isn't to tear us down and make us feel awful, those thoughts come from Satan. The purpose of repentance is to help us become clean and receive joy. Is it easy? No but it is worth the effort to use the Savior's Atonement to help change our hearts, and become clean.

Presidency Message

It seems that this time of year everyone is wanting to do what we used to call “Spring Cleaning”. Both inside and outside.   We all have the desire to get rid of the winter debris. As I was out walking the other day I noticed that the crocus, daffodils, and tulips were poking their heads through the ground.  It won’t be long until the trees will be budding and things will be in full bloom or as some call it reborn after the long winter.
I would like to compare “Spring Cleaning”  to “Spiritual Spring Cleaning and Spiritual Yard Cleaning”. Some of the tools we could use to accomplish this would be Temple Attendance, Scripture Study, Family Home Evening, Forgiving those who have offended us, Daily Personal and Family Prayer, and all the things that we were reminded of in our last Stake Conference and the challenges that Bishop Lundquist has given to us.
General Conference will be on Easter Sunday this year and we will be hearing more about the Atonement of Christ. What a wonderful day to sit and listen to our Prophet and Apostles as they tell us more about Christ and what was done in our behalf.  Even more important to us would be if our “Spiritual Spring Cleaning” was in effect and we were making the effort to get rid of the debris that keeps us from having an understanding and open heart when we listen to our Prophet and those who teach us.  It is my prayer that we will each make our best effort to have our “Spiritual Spring Cleaning” in place so we can listen and better our own lives.
We as a Relief Society Presidency Love each and every one of you.
                Sister Lundquist
