Light the World

The Church's Christmas initiative is "Light the World." We have been encouraged to serve others everyday from December 1st to December 25th in different ways.

Let's follow Christ's example and serve others this holiday season and everyday.

This week the ways to serve and some examples are:
Dec 1st - Jesus Lifted Other's Burdens and So Can You.
                This is the event kick off with a worldwide day of
                  service.
Dec 2nd - Jesus Honored His Parents and So Can You
                  *Call (not Text) your parents
                  * Write a handwritten note to your parents or in-
                     laws.
                   * Learn about and ancestor and share their story.
Dec  3rd - Jesus Helped Others to See and So Can You
                   *Find and eyeglasses collection box and donate
                     an old pair.
                    * Point out a virtue in someone they don't see in
                       themselves.
                   *Promote a vision charity on social media
Dec 4th - Jesus Worshipped His Father and So Can You.
                  *Attend church services
                   *Make a goal to offer a kneeling prayer to
                    Heavenly Father everyday in December.
                  


Weekday Meeting

Our  Christmas Weekday Meeting, Women in the Life of Christ, is coming up in a couple of weeks on December 15th at 6:30 p.m. We will be having a Progressive dinner at the church throughout the building and listen to speakers talk about the women in Christ's life. We will also be having an ornament exchange, so bring and ornament to exchange. There will be a nursery provided.

Christmas Devotional

The First Presidency Devotional is this coming Sunday, Dec 4th at 6 p.m.  What a fabulous way to start this Christmas season!

Heads Up

I was asked to remind everyone that the City will pick up garbage on Wednesday this week since Thanksgiving is Thursday.

Daddy Daughter Date

The activity day girls are having their Daddy Daughter Date Night on Wednesday, Nov 7th at 6:30 p.m. at the church in the primary room.  Girls ages 8-11 are invited to attend with their dads. They need to bring a hammer for the two of them to share as they will be making a Christmas decoration. Any other questions please contact Shannon Anderson or Lisa Dye.

Service Opportunity

We have an opportunity to help serve in the community. We need bell ringers for the Salvation Army. Our ward has been asked to provide bell ringers On Friday, December 2nd.  Most of the spots have been filled but we still have two time slots open: 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  This is an excellent opportunity for families to serve. If you want to fill either of those time slots please contact Derrick Dye. Thanks!

Mutual Kids Christmas Service

On December 6th for mutual the youth are doing their annual service project where they watch the kids so parents can go shopping or wrap Christmas presents. It will be from 6 p.m.-  8 p.m. The youth have fun activities planned for the kids. They are asking that you please feed your children before you bring them.

Weekday Meeitng

Remember our Weekday Meeting for November is tomorrow, Thursday, Nov 17th. We are going to the visitor center in Idaho Falls to watch the new "Meet the Mormon segments. We will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the church and carpool up. If you need to meet us there come at seven.  There will be no nursery so please call a young woman if you need help that way.

Pie Donations

Please remember that donations for pies for the Shelley Foodbank need to be turned in no later than this Sunday. Just fill out a tithing slip and put pies under "other" then turn it and the donation in to a member of the bishopric.

Primary Program Practice

There is a conflict with the building because of a funeral this coming Saturday. So, the Primary Program practice has been moved to Friday from 3:30-5:00 p.m.  There will be phone calls made but hopefully this will allow you to make the change and schedule it on you calendar. 

Teacher Council Meeting

If you were not able to attend the Teaching in the Savior's way broadcast this past Saturday we encourage you to go on to lds.org and watch it. It has lots of good information and Elder Holland closes with a very powerful testimony.

Weekday Meeting

Our Weekday Meeting this month is Nov 17th.  We will be going up to the Temple Visitor Center to watch the new "Meet the Mormon" video segments.
