Car Seats Needed

James and Shannon Anderson are moving back from Germany and are in need of a booster seat and a car seat for a older child. Their car seats are in Utah but they will be flying into Idaho Falls, so they would like to borrow the two seats for about a week to ten days. After that they should have been able to make it to Utah and get their own car seats. Please call Sister Cook 357-3942 if you have some they can use. Sister Cook needs to know by this coming Sunday, Aug 2nd so that if they need to make other arrangements they can.

Hey thanks so much everyone. We found a car seat and a booster seat plus extras in reserve.

Lesson Recap

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf- On Being Genuine

What is a façade? It is putting up a front, or being fake. We all tend to do this, we want to appear to the world that everything is ok. We need to be careful that our hearts are in the right place so that we don't become like the Pharisees and Sadducees "who tired to appear righteous in order to win the praise, influence, and wealth of the world all while oppressing the people they should have been blessing."
We need to remember that "many of the things that you can count, do not count. Many of the things you cannot count really do count". For example which is more important; numbers or people, sin or sinner, calling or ministry. "The Church is not an automobile showroom- a place to put ourselves on display so that others can admire our spirituality, capacity, or prosperity. It is more like a service center, where vehicles in need of repair come for maintenance and rehabilitation. And are we not, all of us, in need of repair, maintenance, and rehabilitation? We come to church not to hide our problems but to heal them."
" . . .the God of Creation, who breathed life into the universe, surely has the power to breathe life into you. Surely He can make of you the genuine, spiritual being of light and truth you desire to be."

Lesson Recap

Lesson #14 Marriage and Family- Ordained of God

This last week's lesson, this week's lesson, and next week's lesson are so timely with everything going on in the world. Just another testimony builder that the Lord is aware of us and knows what we will need even before we do.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints views the family as the most important organization in time and all eternity. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. "Marriage itself must be regarded as a sacred covenant before God." "Husbands and wives who love each other will find that love and loyalty are reciprocated This love will provide a nurturing atmosphere for the emotional growth of children."
President Benson said, "The family is one of God's greatest fortresses against the evils of our day." So we need to do all we can to protect our families from Satan's influences and strengthen them daily. Family Prayer, family scriptures, Family Home Evening, and family councils are needed to help safeguard our families. Our examples as parents, grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles say more than our words can.
Make sweet memories with your families and think of those that you have now for they are some of the greatest treasures in life.

Lesson Recap

Lesson #13 - Priceless Blessing of the House of the Lord

When you think of the temple what are words that come to mind? Peace, Safety, Knowledge, Eternal Families, Power. These are just a few of the words that might be the answer to that questions. President Benson said the following about the temple. "The temple is the nearest place to heaven on mortal earth. [The]  temple will be a light to all in [the] area -- a symbol of all we hold dear. The temple is an ever-present reminder that God intends the family to be eternal. The temple is a constant, visible symbol that God has not left man to grope in darkness. It is a place of revelation.  . . . [The temple is] a standing witness that the power of God can stay the powers of evil in our midst."
We need the temple. We need to go to the temple often. "There is a power associated with the ordinances of heaven -- even the power of godliness - - which can and will thwart the forces of evil if we will be worthy of those sacred blessings. [Our] community will be protected, our families will be protested, our children will be safeguarded as we live the gospel, visit the temple, and live close to the Lord. . . ."
Not only do we need these ordinances and blessings but so do our ancestors. There is so much we can do. We can research our own family names, then take them to the temple to do their work. We can index, which allows records to be digitalized and become available so we and others can find our ancestors. Through the sealing power we are all linked together. "Without them we cannot be made perfect! Exaltation is a family affair."
"In the peace of these lovely temples, sometimes we find solutions to the serious problems of life. Under the influence of the Spirit, sometimes pure knowledge flows to us there.  . . . Do we return to the temple often to receive the personal blessings that come from regular temple worship? Prayers are answered, revelation occurs, and instruction by the Spirit takes place in the hole temples of the Lord. Let us make the temple a sacred home away from our eternal home."

Relief Society Presidency Message

Relief Society Presidency Message:

I have decided to take my message this month from some of Elder L. Tom Perry’s talk given at a devotional at BYU in 1987.

DO YOUR BEST WITH THE TALENTS GOD HAS GIVEN YOU.

“WE have been given an abundance of talents, beauty, and ability. Lack of progress can never be blamed on the lack of raw material.” “It is essential to make this mortal experience one that is rewarding ad fulfilling by developing a consistency in doing our best with whatever talents the Lord has blessed us with.”

SUBSCRIBE TO BASIC, TRIED-AND-TRUE PRINCIPLES.

“One of these principles is integrity. Integrity is tantamount to good character. It is the one trait that reaches all facets of our life and touches each aspect of our personality.”

DEVELOP CHARACTER

“Man becomes ultimately what he thinks and does. Habits become the vehicle of molding his (or her) character. What kind of character and destiny are you after? Our acts are the outgrowth of our beliefs and our thoughts. Good habits are not acquired by just resolve, but are developed in the workshop of our daily lives.

(Taken from Nov 2008 talk.)

SIMPLICITY

“In our search to obtain relief from the stresses of life, may we earnestly seek ways to simplify our lives. May we comply with the inspired counsel and direction the Lord has given us in the great plan of happiness. May we be worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost and follow the guidance of the Spirit as we navigate this mortal journey.”

Sister Shirley Lundquist

Relief Society Lesson Recap

Sister Shirley Lundquist talked to us about feeding our sheep/lambs. We all have sheep and lambs to feed including our children, neighbors, friends and sisters in the ward. In John 21:15-17 Christ asked Peter three times,  " . . . lovest thou me." With Peter's answer of yes the Lord gave him these instructions, "feed my lambs." and "feed my sheep."
So how do we feed those we have been asked to feed? Of course we teach them, serve them, comfort them, and be an example for them to follow. However the most important thing we can do is to love them. Love them unconditionally spiritually and physically wrapping our arms around them as the Savior would do if he were here.
