My Dear Sisters in the Shelley First Ward,
When I was called to the
position of Relief Society President I was filled with an overwhelming love for
each of you. I can’t wait to get to know
each of you better. I wish I could
personally visit you each week or at least each month but that is impossible.
There are 118 sisters currently in our ward. If I only spent 15 minutes with
each of you each week that would be1,770 minutes or 29 ½ hours. I wish I could do that but there just isn’t
time for me to be able to. That is where
each of you comes in. Each of you promised when you were baptized to bear one
another’s burdens, to comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and mourn
with those that mourn. Most of you are visiting teachers. Your call as a visiting
teacher is to be the Lord’s hands here in the Shelley First Ward. To minister,
serve, care for, and watch over the sisters whom you have been assigned.
Part of ministering to your
sisters is getting to know them, and being their friend. Sometimes we may ask
why this sister she rubs me the wrong way. Sisters, I promise you that if you
will go and do what the Lord has asked; you will have a love for this sister
that fills your heart for we are each beautiful and unique daughters of our
Heavenly Father. I know because this has happened to me. I have thought I can’t
do this, but as I did my best the Lord filled in the gaps for me and I know he
will do the same for you.
Every single one of us is
facing challenges; there are no exemptions we all need to feel our Heavenly Father’s
and our Savior’s love. As we minister to our sisters they will be able to know
that they are important and loved by us and feel the love of our Heavenly
Father and Savior.
I love each of you wonderful exceptional beautiful women.
I can’t do all that my Savior and Heavenly Father have asked me to do without
your help. Please minister to the sisters whom you have been called to serve at
this time. Help them, serve them, smile at them, but most of all love them.
Sister Rayanne Cook
On November 1st we will be having visiting
teaching interviews. We care calling it our Friendship Breakfast. We are asking
each sister, even if she is not a visiting teacher, to come enjoy breakfast
with us either before or after your appointment. We want to visit with you
about your companion, the sisters you visit and the sisters who visit you. We will also be discussing some changes that
will be made in how we report our visiting teaching. Please watch for the
signup sheets that will be coming around to sign up for appointments.
