Heather Olsen did a wonderful job teaching us
about Eternal Marriage. Joseph Fielding Smith said, “There is no
ordinance connected with the Gospel of Jesus Christ of greater
importance, of more solemn and sacred nature, and more necessary to
[our] eternal joy . . . than marriage.” This blessing will be available
to all even if they did not have the opportunity in this life. “No one
will be deprived of exaltation who remains faithful.” Being married in
the temple is not the end it is just the beginning. We must work in our
marriages every day to make them eternal marriages. Heather used Elder
L. Whitney Claytons talk from the April 2013 Conference titled,
“Marriage: Watch and Learn” to give us ideas to help make our marriages
eternal. He gave us 5 different things to help us in our marriage.
First, consider your relationship to be a pearl beyond price. Second,
build your foundation faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Third, rely on
the gift of repentance. Fourth, treat each other with respect and as
equal partners. Fifth, live together in love. This is a wonderful talk
and she encouraged us to read it and apply the message in it.
