Do you have have your 72 hour kits ready?
Good question. If you answered yes, congratulations to you,
if you answered no, make that this months challenge.
Get your 72 hour kit ready.
With all the tornado's in the mid-west it gives us the thought provoking
question; "am I ready for something like that"? We need to get ready
and be prepared. More likely than not someday something will happen here
and we won't just be watching about it on the T.V. Get ready now while there
is a sense of calm before any storm might come.
Ideas for your kits:
*have them be portable, you might have to carry your supplies with you
backpacks are great, then even younger children can carry their own (you
never know if you'll be separated from other family members)
*Water Water Water (a life necessity) purification method might be
a good idea also so you don't have to pack all your water with you
*Food - easy food with no cooking required and full of protein
*documents
*change of clothes - if you don't want to part with anything in your wardrobe, check thrift stores
you can find clothes you can buy for cheap that won't bother you if they get ruined
*money make sure you pack small bills, like $5 and $1 dollar bills that way if you purchase an
item and you are unable to get change you wont loose alot of money
*whistle - you might need to make noise
*matches
*source of light - remember if your light source requires batteries, you need a spare
*toiletries - just the bare necessities, no one will care if you have makeup on or not
*portable radio - so you can listen to red cross updates
*medications - if you can pack spare, if not remember to grab it
Everyones kits will be different, based on need. you can add to this list with anything else you feel you might need, just remember, you might have to carry it. This kit is just to keep you alive for three
days not living in luxury.
