Lesson Recap

Lesson Recap: Holiness
We must PRACTICE holiness continually. D&C 46:33

Holiness is the strength of the soul. It comes by faith and through obedience to God’s laws and ordinances. God then purifies the heart by faith, and the heart becomes purged from that which is profane and unworthy. When holiness is achieved by conforming to God’s will, one knows intuitively that which is wrong and that which is right before the Lord. “… We should go to the temple, among other reasons, to safeguard our personal holiness and that of our families. “In addition to temples, surely another holy place on earth ought to be our homes. …
In thinking about how to practice holiness,  I wonder if for 3 days you would be willing to just once each day pick one of your normal daily activities and TRY TO BE HOLY while doing it, or do it as a holy woman would do it. For example, you might choose welcoming your husband home from work, how would a holy woman do that? Or making dinner, or reading to a child, or exercising. You might choose praying, doing laundry, or how would a holy woman handle a conflict?
What would she spend her time reading,? or saying? or watching
What would she do in really difficult situations. What if she were offended, falsely accused, how would a holy woman handle that. What would a holy woman do. Choose a different thing each day, or choose the same thing each day, it doesn't matter, you can't do it wrong.
Be careful of the topics you speak of with your friends, no gossiping. Trying to be holy invites the spirit into your conversations.

Here is the "Daughters in my Kingdom" reading chart that was passed out with the lesson. Feel free to print a copy if you didn't get one Sunday. As a presidency we would like to challenge all of you to participate... this isn't a race, but we know this book will help you learn more about how to become a Holy Woman as you read it. -If you don't have a copy of the book, let one of us know and we will get you one!
