Lesson Recap - #3 Freedom of Choice, an Eternal Principle

We were part of a council in heaven. "The central issue in that premortal council was: Shall the children of God have untrammeled [not restricted or hindered] agency to choose the course they should follow, whether good or evil, or shall they be coerced and force to be obedient.? Christ and all who followed Him stood for the former position - freedom of choice. Satan stood for the latter- coercion and force." There was a war in heaven fought over agency and it still continues today on the earth. God will never force us to do anything for that is contrary to His plan. "He will use persuasion through His servants. He will call us and He will direct us and He will persuade us and encourage us and He will bless us when we respond, but He will never force the human mind. We need to use the agency He has blessed us with wisely.  As we make decisions we must do our part and then Heavenly Father can direct us through the Holy Ghost. We need to have faith, pray, if needed fast, and then listen to the Holy Ghost. "Our decisions have made us what we are. Our eternal destiny will be determined by the decisions we yet will make."
