Sister Cook gave the lesson on Service.
Service is one of the best ways to develop charity and do as our Father in Heaven has asked, to love out neighbors as ourselves. As we serve others there is a change that takes place in each of us. Serving helps us move one step closer to developing charity, that pure, unselfish love that our Savior has for us. President Spencer W. Kimball said, "God does watch over us and does notice us, but it is usually though someone else that he meets our needs." Pray to know who to serve, listen for the promptings, and then go and do.
The youth theme for this year comes from D&C 4:2, Embark in the Service of God. This isn't just about missionary work. Think outside the box a bit there is so much we can do to serve those around us whether they are in our families or outside our homes, even our ancestors and we do family history and temple work. Think about how you want to "Embark in the Service of God" this year.
Sister Cook issued a challenge that we serve someone that we normally wouldn't serve each day. Help others along the way and get the added bonus of helping yourself become closer to the Savior and developing charity as well.
*She used two videos from lds.org that you can view. The first one was the youth theme video found on youth.lds.org
the next one is titled "You Never Know". It is easiest to find if you type the title into the search box.
